Congress must cast off its inertia

Congress must think why the people are distancing from it. What is the cause behind it? Whether it is corruption, price rise, weakening organizational set ups in Hindi heartland or blind pursuit after economic reforms that alienate the people from it. Samvaad Baithak must dwell on these issues with priority. It is clear that there is disconnection between the people and the ruling Congress Party.Congress leaders and workers need urgently to caste off inertia and be ready to explain to the people why the worsening economic situation of 1991 is lurking before the nation. It means that the UPA has managed the economic affairs very badly. When the UPA has been in power for the last eight years, why the situation demanded to take hard economic measures that has brought more economic burden on the people. Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has asked the party workers to explain to the people about the tough economic decisions taken by the government at Samvaad Baithak in Surajkund of Haryana. It is good to hold Samvaad Baithak but at the same time it is pre-requisite to be always have Samvaad always with the people of the nation to come to power. The people are really disillusioned with UPA over rising corruption, food inflation and going all out for economic reforms. They are angry at economic measures and UPA govt's total failure to check price rise. UPA has been in power for the last eight years. Why did it not anticipate that if it did not work hard in the beginning, the situation might go from bad to worse? As far as Sonia Gandhi’s call up on its workers to explain before the people is concerned, does she not know what is the position of Congress organization from Panchayat to state capital level in two most politically important states - Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It is almost dead. The Congress workers are demoralized and not in a position to speak before the opposition party with any moral standing. There is no leader in these two states who could stand up to the opposition party CMs. So, first and foremost task before the Congress Samvaad Baithak is to think in detail how to bring the party on its own feet before the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
